Great to Ski Annecy Again

Just back to from a trip to my house in Doussard to enjoy the peace and calm of the lake Annecy during winter season. Not many tourists about this time of the year. I always wondered why, given the close proximity to some amazing skiing. I take it most people don’t like driving to a ski resort, even if it is as little as 30 min transfer time.
Well, I have just done La Clusaz, Grand Bornand, Megeve, Chamonix and Meribel in the space of a week and I loved all of it. Most of the time just a half day skiing, leaving the rest of the day to do other things – in my case working!!!
The ski resorts nearby lake Annecy are truly spectacular. The Aravis ski resorts with La Clusaz and Grand Bornand are some of the prettiest in the French Alps and the skiing is not bad either. Half day ski pass 23 euro, full day 29 euro – compared to Val D’Iser, Tignes or Meribel this is almost half price skiing. At those prices you don’t mind having only 100km piste instead of 300km.
Given that winter on lake Annecy is absolute low season, accommodation is cheaper too. You can rent a 3 bedroom house near the lake sleeping 6 or 8 for as little as £450 a week. A far cry from those tiny 6 people apartments in most of the larger ski resorts.
